Abstract |
The EIA infiltrated export networks by forming a front company, which uncovered malfeasance, including traders who mislabeled e-scrap to circumvent customs; involvement by local councils; and Environmental Waste Controls, a large recycling company, all involved in the illicit trade. Investigators attached tracking devices to broken televisions, which revealed that the TVs made their way to Africa. The EIA also discovered that some obsolete computers with the imprint from large government agencies also made their way overseas. |
