Swiss Partners

The operational partners for the project are carefully selected by EMPA in coordination with seco. The subcontractors complement EMPA's knowledge and network in the countries of the operational projects and assist EMPA on a strategic level with their experience from similar projects.

  • INFRAS: INFRAS is a private and independent consulting group providing policy analysis and implementation services to private and public organisations since 1976. INFRAS conducts studies and expert reports, initiates and monitors processes in policy-making, public administration, and the private economy. Since 1998 Beni Oettli INFRAS is organizing and conducting management training in the Cleaner Municipal Waste Program in China. This program is used as the host for the eWaste Assessment in China.
  • SKAT (The Swiss Centre for Development Cooperation in Technology and Management consulting): SKAT was founded in 1978 as part of the Institute of Latin American Research and Development Cooperation, hosted by the University of St. Gallen. SKAT focuses on three areas of expertise: Water and Sanitation, Architecture and Construction, and Transport Infrastructure. SKAT is a prime resource centre which collects documents and disseminates knowledge and experience related to North and South issues. Jörg Christen, managing director of SKAT, with years of experience in municipal waste management in Southern Africa is contracted as a resource person and backstopper for the eWaste Assessment in South Africa.
